Ruth is a prominent regional artist who, while being involved in creative arts for a lifetime, only began painting seriously a few years ago. Her work is representational and seeks to elicit a mood, a feeling, or an emotion, and sometimes social commentary. She has studied oil painting with Daud Akhriev, Skip Lawrence, Nan Carver, Roseta Santiego, Pris Buttler, Dee Beard Dean and Bill Davidson. Her medium of choice is oil on canvas and her paintings include still lifes, landscapes, and portraiture. Her representational style and soft brush strokes evoke emotion and sentiment. Ruth’s paintings often contain hidden messages about human relationships. Ruth painted a series of pears interwoven by a silk ribbon to represent the bonds and similarities of humankind.
